This Sinclair Station was once on the southwest corner of 16th St. and Duss Ave. The Circle K convenience store is currently located on that corner.
I don't know when the photo was taken--other than, I'm guessing, in winter.
In the 1950's, this was known as Wanchick's Service Station.

ReplyDeletethis pic has to be early 40s, i walked past this station couple times a day to hh & home & going out in evening, walked everywhere had no car in ambridge, the station i knew was more modern, had 1 or 2 bays attached, notice mens room on right side. one summer day walking home from hh i heard the lion sleeps tonite song, 53 or 54, there was a big oval dino sign on a pole (40ft high)closer to 16th st & i think a big dino sign on roof too, they were always busy. just north was a tavern/bar, back south was romas. dom & cuz millies place
